When is a crime victim not really a crime victim? Deputies say one Halifax County woman found out the hard way.
Last month authorities say April Clements said her home had been broken into and several items stolen. But during the investigation, deputies say they learned the home was never burglarized and that Clements did not want to pay for the items she had rented.
Clements is accused of staging the break-in and charged with larceny and filing a false police report.
Deputies have recovered a flat screen TV, Playstation II, a DVD player, laptop computer as well as other items that were listed as stolen.
