Elizabeth City "Idol" Returns Home

Former "American Idol" contestant Ricky Braddy met fans, signed autographs and had his picture taken with fans at a party in his native North Carolina..

The one thing he didn't do Sunday was sing. The Daily Advance of Elizabeth City reported Monday that family friend Jeff Clark said Braddy's contract with the show bars him from singing for at least the next three months.

But he was able to meet about 500 fans who attended a party in Elizabeth City thrown by Braddy's family to thank the community for its support. Braddy made it to the top 36 contestants but not the final 13.

Clark says Braddy plans to go to Nashville, Tenn., this week, do some interviews with the TV show's media company and see what happens next.

Ricky was robbed. He was much better than at least half of the contestants still on the show. Take a three month break and then sing your heart out Ricky. You'll get signed by someone.

David. Its called a contract. He knew it when he signed it. 3 months isn't that long. At least it isn't a year.

Hey Dave.... some of us are proud that someone from Eastern, NC was on American Idol - if you don't like it...don't read it. Have a wonderful day.

They do own them for whatever the contract that they signed, say's. Is it right? probably not, but it's legal. He signed it, and it sounds like to me he is abiding by it.

What right does AI have to bar someone who was eliminated from the show from singing? Ricky has every right to do as he pleases now! He is a great singer and he has the right to pursue his career. That's what is wrong with AI and 19 now! Once these contestants make an appearance on the show, they act as though they own them! Which is not right. Ricky has the right to sing anywhere he so desires! I wish him the best of luck in his singing career. In fact, he should thank God that he was not accepted on the show, he got great screen time. He owes them NOTHING and he is now known throughout the country for his great talent. I am sure he will do just fine for himself.
