Preliminary NTSB Report Out On Blackwater Crash

There is new information on a deadly helicopter crash on XE's property in Currituck County, formerly known as Blackwater.

A National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report has come out with details from the student pilot who survived the February 24th crash.

The student says they were working on practice landings when they started flying towards ship simulators. That's when the student noticed the landing skid was hooked under the railing. He tried to tell the instructor, but it was too late.

The helicopter flipped and the crash killed the pilot, Glen Wenzel of Winston-Salem.

The report says an FAA inspection found no pre-crash problems that might have led to the accident.
