It's literally been a growing problem for some public safety employees in one Eastern Carolina county for more than 5 months.

Hyde County officials say mold has been growing in the Hyde County Jail since October.

The newly constructed public safety facility was tested by the state last fall when workers started complaining of headaches and respiratory problems.

The infestation has caused departments including the sheriff's office to temporarily relocate.

County Manager Carl Clessen hopes to move all employees back into the facility in 4 to 6 weeks.
