A Jacksonville man is dead after his car collided with a deer Sunday night in Pender County. WECT-TV reports 43-year-old Charles Foelsch, Jr. of River St. in Jacksonville died in the crash.
The wreck was reported on Highway 53 near Crooms Bridge Road. That's where a deer ran into the road, according to WECT, and was hit by a car heading east. That impact sent the deer flying across the highway, into the path of the westbound car. That car struck the deer and then drove off the road into a tree.
WECT reports the passengers in the east bound car were transported to the hospital and do not have life-threatening injuries.
