A Highway Patrol trooper is under investigation on allegations of sexual assault.
The SBI is investigating New Hanover County Trooper Bryan Phillips.
The Highway Patrol says they're also running an internal investigation of possible off-duty criminal behavior.
Trooper Phillips is now on administrative leave. He's been with the Highway Patrol since February 2005 and has been stationed in Wilmington since March 2007.
