A man is accused of biting the ear of a police dog, an injury that required numerous stitches to fix.
Wilmington police say it happened Sunday afternoon when K-9 Officer "Maxx" was trying to apprehend a man wanted on outstanding warrants. Police say during the struggle, Travis Glaspie bit the dog's ear and "Maxx" made an emergency visit to the vet's office.
Glaspie was also bitten during the arrest. He's charged with felony assault on a law enforcement animal, resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer, property damage and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.
Glaspie was originally wanted on warrants for shooting into an occupied vehicle Friday night.
His bond is $1.025 million and the 22 year old man remains behind bars.
