Man Drowns On Beach Vacation

A North Carolina man vacationing with his family has drowned at a beach.

The StarNews of Wilmington reported police said Carter M. Stroupe of Greensboro drowned Wednesday morning at Ocean Isle Beach.

Dale Tweedy of Morrisville was among those who tried to revive Stroupe. He says he saw someone playing the water, then saw ocean waves rolling over the man.

Tweedy and a woman dragged the man to the beach.

Good grief, another drowning during a family vacation. I don't think I have read about so many, in such a short time, in ENC. The ocean has to be respected for what it is; an unpredictable body of deep water filled with unseen living creatures and hidden currents. It is as treacherous as it is beautiful. God bless him.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this drowning victim. May God be with them at this difficult time. Lots of people just don't realize how dangerous that ocean can be. It may look like nothing if it's slick out there, but that undertow will fool a lot of people.
