Brunswick County Catholic Priest Accused Of Molesting Boy

A Catholic priest in North Carolina has been charged with molesting a boy in Brunswick County.

Multiple media outlets report that the Rev. Edgar Sepulveda of Beulaville was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree sexual offense and sexual battery.

Diocese officials said they learned about the allegations in September and contacted authorities.

Sepulveda denied the accusations and was put on administrative leave during the investigation. The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh says the 47-year-old Sepulveda has been suspended from his duties at Maria Reina Parish in Mount Olive, Santa Teresa Mission in Beulaville and Santa Clara Mission in Magnolia.

Sepulveda was released from jail on a $100,00 secured bond. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Its sad that people have to assume that Catholic Priest and molestation is just a hand in hand belief. I pray that you change your mind. There are no facts right now present, and the Catholic church does not allow this type of this to happen. The only thing known is between God, the priest and the family. I would like to say he is innocent, but yet, I don't know. What I can say is this. You condemn the men of our Church, yet there have been more scandals and corrupt men in the protestant churches. You codemn us out of ignorance, unknown to what a priest truely scarifices. Before you make statements, visit a Catholic church and attend a mass, and maybe you will, God willing, see the error of your statements. Until then, I pray for the family and the priest.

I've known Padre Edgar for over 6 years and he would never do something like that but the truth will come and everything will be fine. God Bless You Padre Edgar.

This has been going on for years in the Catholic Church, don't see why this is news, it is so it is accepted fact that it has happened and will continue to happen. The church covers it up and just moves them to another area with fresh children to go after.

Gay pedophiles often seek out positions that will allow them access to children.

What is it with Catholic priest and boys? We hear it all the time. Never seems to be girls. Either way a child is a wrong. Another reason for me to doubt the church. I've said many times on here (and been blasted for it) that my church is between me a can be anywhere. Doesn't have to be in a church shoved down my throat by someone that I don't even know if I can trust.

Where is this guys mug shot? Drug dealers and murder suspects pics are a dime a dozen but these type of suspects pics don't make the press.. Molesting innocent kids is a far worse crime and should be reported equally if not more..
