A North Carolina woman and her 5-month-old baby safely escaped a raging fire in the apartment below by jumping out a second-story window.
The Star-News of Wilmington reports that Deshana Britton and her baby were sleeping in their Wilmington apartment when a kitchen fire started in a downstairs unit around 3 p.m. Friday.
Britton said she tried to head down the stairs but was pushed back by waves of smoke. So Britton said she tossed her baby down to friends and onlookers who gathered below and then jumped herself.
Britton says she and her child were not hurt. Authorities say no
one was injured in the fire, but the apartment where it happened
was badly damaged.
