A woman hit by a train Monday in Kinston has been identified.
Kinston Police Sgt. Fred Darden says the woman tried to cross the railroad crossing on Queen Street around 11:00 a.m. Darden says the 45-year-old woman dropped some of her belongings and when she reached to pick them up she got hit by the train.
Police have identified the woman as Naomi Johnson.
The woman was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center with visible broken bones. Vidant is not releasing her condition.
Queen Street remained closed for several hours as officers investigated the accident.
