A woman is facing DWI and animal cruelty charges after officers said they spotted her dragging a three-month-old puppy down a Kinston street.
Kinston police say 26-year-old Jennifer Wilson was booked in the Lenoir County Jail over the weekend on the charges while the dog is still recovering.
Police said they were investigating a car crash on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard when witnesses told them they saw the woman dragging the small dog, which was attached to the bumper of her vehicle.
The severely injured dog was turned over to the Lenoir County SPCA where its wounds were cleaned and bandaged.
Wilson was jailed on a $15,000 bond.
