Lenoir County Deputies arrested a suspect wanted in a shooting incident where the victim escaped gunfire but was injured in the process.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office responded to West King St, La Grange last Friday concerning a person that had been reportedly shot.
Deputies found Rodney Atkinson lying in the front yard bleeding from his head and another person running from the scene. He was identified as 17-year-old Terrance Outlaw Jr.
Investigators say that Atkinson and Outlaw were involved in a verbal argument when Outlaw pulled out a gun, pointed it at Atkinsons' head and fired. Atkinson fell to the ground in an attempt to avoid being shot and was injured during the fall.
Outlaw then left the scene and was then found by deputies walking down the street.
He's charged with assault with a deadly weapon with Intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a minor and discharging a firearm within the city limits of La Grange.
Outlaw's bond was set at $121,000.00.
