Shooting Turns Out To Be Stabbing; Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A shooting turned out to be a stabbing, and a Kinston man is charged with trying to kill the other man.

Adro Williams of Desmond Street was arrested Wednesday for attempted murder. Police say the call on Sunday evening first came in as a shooting on McAdoo Street. There they found Ashonti Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds. Their investigation showed the 32-year-old man was also shot at, but not hit by the gunfire.

Police say the two men are acquaintances.

Williams remains at Vidant Medical Center, while the 23-year-old suspect is in the Lenoir County jail under a $1,000,000 secured bond.
