NEW INFO: Police Investigate Kinston Shooting, School Locked Down

Police are looking for a gunman who opened fire this morning in a Kinston neighborhood.

It happened around 10:35 a.m. in the 500 block of Thompson Street. Police say no one was hit in the gunfire, but a vehicle and a home were struck.

Sampson School, an alternative educational facility, is about a half block away. The school was placed on lockdown about a half hour until police secured the area.

Police say four people were inside a gray four-door Toyota Camry and one of those had a handgun.
