National Honor For Local Teacher

A high school teacher in the east has been honored with an award given to just one educator here in America.

North Lenoir High School teacher Lee Holder is the recipient of the 2010 Irena Sendler award "for repairing the world".

The Sendler awards are given annually to one teacher in Poland and one in the U.S. for their innovative and inspirational teaching of Holocaust education.

Holder teaches social studies and says he sees his mission as sharing about world-wide genocide.

Holder will receive a $5,000 monetary gift for the honor.
