An abandoned home in Kinston is a shell of its former self today after a destructive early morning blaze.
Kinston Assistant Fire Chief Don Crawford tells WITN's Carly Swain that no one lived at 1206 East Bright Street, but it somehow caught on fire. The fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. Monday. The cause is undetermined at this time.
Crawford says crews were called to a different home for another fire late Sunday night. A fire was reported at 600 North Adkin Street around 11:30 p.m. One person was home when that fire started but wasn't injured. That fire is under investigation.
The location of the two fires are a few blocks away from each other. There is no indication from Crawford that the fires are connected.
