Troopers have now released more information on a deadly crash in Greene County Saturday evening involving multiple vehicles.
Troopers say 79-year-old James Baker Jr. of Snow Hill was driving a van on Burrell Field Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a Greene County deputy vehicle that was going North on US 13.
The deputy driving was 37-year-old Brad Conwell of Walstonburg. He was treated and released at the hospital.
Troopers say one of the vehicles then collided with two motorcyclists. 58-year-old Everette Best of Florida was killed. 61-year-old Michael Wilson of Goldsboro was treated and released from the hospital.
Troopers now say a fifth person was also involved. Baker's wife was in the van with him. She was also treated and released from the hospital.
Charges are pending and the investigation continues.
The Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened in Greene County Saturday evening.
Trooper George Langley says he was called to the scene at 5:43 p.m.
According to Langley a vehicle was traveling west on Burrell Field Road. The vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a Greene County deputy vehicle that was going North on US 13.
Langley says one of those vehicles then collided with two motorcycles that were traveling south on US 13. He says a motorcyclist was killed.
The names of those involved are not being released at this time. The deputy has been treated and released from the hospital.
The wreck is still under investigation and charges are pending.
