A meeting will be held Tuesday night regarding the U.S. 70 Kinston Bypass. This is the first of two opportunities for you to weigh in on this highway project proposal.
The state wants to build a four-lane highway divided by a median that runs from Highway 70 in La Grange to 70 near Dover in Craven County. Officials said the goal is to improve traffic flow on Highway 70; however, achieving that will mean people can only access the bypass from main roads at interchanges only. The state also said they'll have to relocate some homes and businesses for the project.
The meeting Tuesday night is at the Public Services Complex on Highway 258 in Kinston from 4 to 7 p.m..There is also a meeting at the same time Thursday at the Kinston High School cafeteria.
