The Woodmen Community Center on Vernon Avenue in Kinston is expected to open in 2 weeks. The 53,000 square foot facility features an elevated walking track, gymnasium, pool, cardio and strength training room, water park and more. While crews put the finishing touches on the center the public is invited to visit starting Monday, and their doors are scheduled to open July 23rd.
The Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, based in Nebraksa reportedly contributed $7 million toward the building of the more than $12 million complex through its charitable and community arm, the Woodmen Foundation. City, county, state and private donations paid the remaining $5 million.
