A woman who has been charged with stabbing a man on her birthday Thursday stabbed another man last September, according to police.
Shana Hopper went before a judge Friday morning in Kinston. She was arrested shortly after Thursday's stabbing on Thompson Street.
Her lawyer told the judge the woman is bipolar and was acting in self defense when she stabbed Michael Wiggins.
Kinston police found Wiggins on Thompson Street around 3:50 p.m. with a serious stab wound to his upper chest. Police say he's in serious condition at Vidant Medical Center.
The judge set Hopper's bond at $75,000.
Last summer the woman was suspected in another stabbing. In that case another man was stabbed in the back after an argument. Police said that victim didn't cooperate and would not press charges.
A stabbing victim was rushed to Vidant Medical Center after being wounded in the chest this afternoon.
Kinston police say Michael Wiggins was found on Thompson Street around 3:50 p.m. with a serious stab wound to his upper chest.
The 55-year-old man was taken directly to Vidant.
Police say Shana Hopper, who turned 42 years old today, is in custody and charges are pending. Officers say the victim and Hopper are acquaintances.
