We will soon get a look inside a Kinston restaurant like we've never seen before through a PBS documentary which will start airing in September.
Chef Vivian Howard and her husband Ben Knight opened up Chef & The Farmer restaurant in Kinston in 2006 across from the Lenoir County farmer’s market and in the center of Kinston’s downtown.
Howard and Knight work with a network of small farmers and create a menu that changes every week and highlights the region’s local seasonal ingredients. Everything from the bread to the ice cream is made in house.
Knight posted this on his website:
"For about two years Vivian and I have been working on a series for PBS about Southern Food, Eastern Carolina and our restaurant. We have shot, edited and sold our 13 segment series to National PBS on a budget made largely of fumes and determination. We are set to begin airing Nationally on PBS in September but need some funds to pass the finish line.
