Two more homes have been hit by gunfire in Kinston overnight.
Kinston police say around 11:35 p.m. officers responded to a home on Northview Drive where they found numerous shell casings on the road in front of one home.
Four bullets hit the garage door of the one home, while three passed through the wall and hit the home next door.
"We're just out here talking to folks in the neighborhood making them aware of what happened and hopefully not be too concerned," said Officer Woody Spencer. "We're investigating it as possible gang activity. So it's not like people are driving through here shooting houses at random. So the investigation continues and hopefully we'll get something out of this."
This is the 26th shooting in Kinston so far this year, according to Public Safety Director Bill Johnson.
Tuesday morning a home on Perry Park Drive was struck by multiple bullets, but no one was injured.
No one was injured in the latest shooting and police say there is no evidence yet to show that the recent shootings are connected.
Kinston police said they are working to find out who fired a gun at a home while people were inside overnight.
Police got the call around 12:25 a.m. for shots fired in the 1500 block of Perry Park Drive.
Officers said they arrived to find gunfire had hit the home at 1503 Perry Park Drive. That address is across the street from Fairfield Park, off West Vernon Avenue.
Sharon Romain rents the home, and has three children, according to the property manager. Police said they found numerous bullet holes on the outside of the home, while two bullets were embedded into a bedroom wall.
No one was hurt in the shooting, and so far no one has been arrested.
The owner of the home, Curtis Properties, served an eviction notice on Romain Tuesday, ordering her to move out within the next ten days.
