Kinston police say a peanut truck tipped over just before 8 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 11 closing a portion of the northbound highway just south of Cunningham Road until around 10:30 p.m.
Police say the driver and his wife were in the cab of the tractor trailer when it overturned and she suffered a cut to her head, but there were no life threatening injuries. Police say the driver is OK, but both were taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
Police say the truck veered off road and the driver corrected to get back onto the highway, but the trailer lifted up and turned the whole vehicle on its side where it rested for more than an hour. No other vehicles were involved.
Police are unsure if speeding was the cause or if the driver just wasn't paying attention. Police say the driver will possibly be charged with failure to wear seatbelt and failure to maintain lane control.
