Funding To Help Restore Passenger Service At Kinston Jetport

The U.S Department of Transportation is providing federal funds to boost efforts to restore passenger air service at the Kinston Regional Jetport.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, who recently visited the jetport, says Kinston will receive $350,000. It is one of two airports across the country to receive such funds.

First District Democrat Congressman G.K. Butterfield, up for re-election next week against Republican Ashley Woolard, said that while it is unlikely that these funds alone would be sufficient to restore passenger air service, this key federal commitment would make it easier to secure further funding.

bringing flights back the the airport is a good thing, all of the people that live in my hometown do not get checks and have babie, this change is good for everyone. The person that got the $350.000 is working on the behalf of all of the citizens of my hometown of Kinston that mean the baby maakers and the peole that get checks. This is a change for the good everything is not about politics, if that was the case when vote aand send anyone to washington. Change your way of thinking

Workingman, not only are the voting machines in question here, several state have the problem. Last night on Fox, they had poll workers say they witnessed it several times. The voter voted straight R ticket and saw they just voted on Harry Reid...Arizona. The SEIU is responsible for checking the machines...big union??? If they have rigged these machines, its prison time....It is advised to not use straight R....go line by line, check them before you finish....apparently, this prevents the foul up. If Kinston was a good location and deal with the airlines, they would be there right now....Hugonian, lousy is right...was in New Bern yesterday during the Atlanta storm....I never got off the ground since "THEY NEVER HOLD CONNECTING FLIGHTS" and I quote. Even if the airport is on storm hold...of course we were told they would hold them by the nice people at the counter....appears my connection went our right on time....without me.

To WOW. And just where is this "great" airport within 50 minutes ? Must be RDU but that's 70 minutes travel time. Kinston has the best facilitites in eastern N.C. but it should be self sufficient, not a tax dollar robber like the politicians who support this idea. Vote Republican and make darn sure you recheck your ballot before pushing the button. Democrats have infiltrated the voting machines.........what next ?

Oh what a plan, spend thousands to lure someone like Delta back to town only to have them take the $$$$$$$$$ and run again. The last venture could have been sucessful if Delta had provided quality service. I remember on my last Delta flight sitting in Atlanta (late night)with no pilot to fly us to Kinston. Each flight we made in and out of Kinston with Delta was full but the service was typical Delta...........lousy !

Here's maybe a novel idea, but IF there is enough traffic (paying passengers) in and out of kinston, let delta or whomever else wants to fight for thier business fit the tab. On the other hand if any of the airlines doesn't think that this would be a good hub, then don't worry 'bout it. Seems too simple to this country boy. Oh, I fergot the politicians having to grease the wheels of some campaign contributor, never mind!!! Dang. Oh and I forgot to mention come next Tuesday, allow NO incumbants!!!!

Another example of a collosal waste of our taxes. This is just done to get Butterball and his Dem cronies re-elected. A great airport with direct flights 50 minutes away. Are you kidding me-- we don't need this--reduce our taxes instead. Threw tons of money at the stupid GLOBAL TRANSPARK for a few promised jobs-- government can't solve your problems. Vote Republican and get some of our tax money back. This is more craziness.

yea right. when the majority of people in this town do not work. The only way they make money is to have babies and get checks for them... and NONE is spent on the child. They live in govrment housing, buy food with food stamps, get free cell phones, is OBAMA buying them tickets now? Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day... Give a man a fishing pole and he learns to feed himself! Goverment needs to stop handing out FISH and give them some POLES!!

Waste of tax money, this is crazy. Why would anyone need to fly into KINSTON? Really, you have New Bern 30 miles down the road, also Jacksonville, 50 miles. Not sure, but I think Greenville still has flights, which is 30 miles. Does eastern N.C. really need 3 small time airports. Will there be enough fights to this part of the state to support all 3? Who is coming to K-town, AKA Thugville. Keep the 350,000, spend it on something worthwhile. Pleas no Butterfield!! Wasteful spending before even in office!!!
