UPDATE: Investigators: Kinston House Fire Is Arson Case

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office says a fire at a vacant home is a case of arson. Deputies say a rental agent reported the fire about 5:45 p.m. Sunday at 2101 Dogwood Lane in Kinston. At the time, the rental agent was at a home next door. It is believed someone used an accelerant to burn the home. Investigators suspect the fire started sometime on Saturday evening.

The home was under contract to be sold. The sheriff's office says the homeowner is listed as Lynn Parker.

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, SBI, LC Fire Marshal's Office and the North Lenoir Volunteer Fire Department are conducting the investigation.

No one has been charged in the case.

Officials say that a Sunday evening house fire is being ruled suspicious in Lenoir County. That home is currently for sale.

Chief Deputy Chris Hill says that details are few but that it happened at a home on Dogwood Lane in the Castle Oaks subdivision. A fire official says that it happened at 2101 Dogwood Lane.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation are looking into the cause and were back on the scene Monday morning.

Fire officials say that no one was injured in the blaze.
