FEMA Extends Hurricane Irene Flood Help Deadline

Hurricane Irene victims are getting even more time to file flood claims with FEMA.

The feds have now extended the proof of loss deadline for flood victims to January 23rd. The deadline had been tomorrow.

State Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin asked FEMA for the extended deadline saying many storm victims in the state had received inadequate service and were unaware of the deadline.

The extension also impacts flood policyholders in Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, DC, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia.
