An elderly woman wasn't hurt after her car was hit by a train Friday morning.
Kinston police say it happened on Herritage Street in downtown Kinston just before 10 a.m.
Police say Mattie Ambrose was heading south on Herritage when she slowed to cross the tracks. As she was crossing, Ambrose heard the train horn and stopped her vehicle.
The crossing arm went down in front of her, and the 85-year-old woman tried to back up. But the train struck the right corner of the woman's car, spinning it around once.
Police say no charges will be filed against Ambrose.
