Traffic Stop Nets 83 Bags Of Heroin, 4 Arrests

Investigators said a traffic stop turned into a significant drug bust on Wednesday.

Lenoir County deputies said they worked with Kinston police to stop a car along NC Highway 11.

Investigators say the driver, 51-year-old Danny Price of Kinston, would not stop driving until patrol cars boxed him in.

Deputies arrested Price and the other three people in the vehicle on the spot: Roy Morris Jr., David Melton, and Heather Vallia.

All four were charged with felony trafficking heroin by possession and possession of stolen goods and give a $1 million bond each.

Investigators said they found 83 bags of heroin in the vehicle along with nearly $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise and thousands of dollars in cash.

"This is an impressive seizure of heroin in Lenoir County. The arrests and seizures are yet another example of the nexus between property crimes and drug addiction," said Sheriff Chris Hill. "Addicts commit property crimes such as residential break-ins and store larcenies to fund their addictive habits."

Deputies said they are now working with stores and authorities in Pitt, Onslow, and Lenoir counties to figure out what items came from which stores, and charge the suspects appropriately.
