Criminal Expert: Several People Likely Responsible For Fast Food Robberies

With so many fast food restaurant robberies in such a short amount of time, the 13th in Eastern Carolina Tuesday night at the KFC in Tarboro, we got some insight into what may be going on from an expert.

East Carolina University criminal justice director Dr. William Bloss tells us the fast food restaurant robberies are more than likely just hits on easy targets. He doesn't believe the latest robberies are really copy cats because anyone in the criminal arena knows the stores are quick opportunities. We asked him about the possibility of a serial offender. Dr Bloss, a former Houston, Texas Police Officer, says, "Ordinarily in the grand scheme of things as far as criminal offending goes, serial offenders meaning the same person committing a crime identically over and over again, are rather rare in comparison to the larger criminal population."

Dr. Bloss says he does not believe the same people are committing all these robberies. He says the current teamwork by multiple law enforcement agencies is typically the best way at catch the suspects--but knowing the next target is not easy.

Why is that WITN decided to go ask an "Expert" about these robberies when he does not have any idea about all of the cases? Why is that WITN didnt go ask the lead Detectives in each case or department representative about the cases? What qualifies this guy as an expert? a Masters Degree in criminal justice. Wow I know alot of people who have masters degrees but wouldnt cut in law enforcement. I think WITN should go ask the real experts, the officers that are working the cases.

Do you think it's possible the hoodlums have figured out that fast food places have more money available to steal than convenience marts??

No; THIEVES have figured out that food places aren't expecting to be robbed (although that is quickly changing); convenience marts are KNOWN targets.

This guy may be an expert but I assure you he has not worked the streets in a while. To WITN...Try interviewing people that are affiliated or working the robbery investgations instead of an expert that has no first hand knowledge of what the facts are in any of these cases.

My cat takes care of the mice if I give him kitty food to keep him around. The LE employees of ENC will eventually catch the chicken thives if you keep them around with free donuts.

The LE doughnut joke is really getting tiresome.

It sounds like WITN approached Mr. Bloss for an expert statement, that he graciously gave. Doesn't sound like he just popped up claiming to have all the answers. I've wondered if it were possible that one 'outfit' is involved in these robberies, but they would sure have to have a nice 'ride' to make it to so many locations so fast, without the 'ride' being noticed (license #, color, make, model). What I do find odd is that NONE of the thieves has been caught, at any of the locations. Reminds me of the 'Foot Clan' headed by 'Shredder' in TMNT's (fictional characters, BTW).

If this "expert" is so good,,why dont he tell the police who they are? Its easy to talk but harder to walk

I am worried about the price of fried chicken going up if they dont catch them soon! And if they do catch all them and put them in jail our taxes will go up!We need an expert to give some more advise?

"Took and expert to say that"? Ecactly - sometimes people educate themselves into illiteracy. Didn't take Sherlock Holmes, Starsky and Hutch, Columbo, or Kojak to figure that out.

This expert isn't a fictional character.

AAAhhh......sometimes when you don't have the answer you just have to fake it. Clues.....I don't have one. But when the truth is revealed.....it will be elementary my friend !
