Cable Van Lands In Water-Filled Ditch Friday Morning

A cable company employee has been sent to Vidant Medical Center after his vehicle flipped into a ditch filled with water this morning.

State troopers say the accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on Highway 55 outside of Kinston, near Faulkner Road.

Trooper D.W. Emory says the Suddenlink employee swerved to avoid a car turning into a driveway. The worker was able to crawl out of his vehicle and was transported in stable condition, according to Emory.

One lane of Highway 55 was closed down for about an hour this morning because of the crash.

Troopers will charge Bryan Cooley of Kinston with a lane violation. He was driving the car that the Suddenlink van tried to avoid.

The van is under water and resting on the drivers side. The driver appears to have made it out alive and all you guy can talk about is the name of the hospital....Who cares about the name of the hospital the driver went to, he's alive..Come on people. Thanks to the fire, law enforcement, & ems personel for there response and actions.

Certainly glad this driver will be ok. They made sure they got Vidant Medical Center in there. I know it's not for me to say, but changing the name of that hospital was just ridiculous, in my opinion. It will always be Pitt Memorial to me....just saying....don't throw stones at me people....everyone is entitled to their opinion..
