A black bear decided to visit one neighborhood in Lenoir County around lunch Thursday.
The bear, which doesn't appear to be fully grown yet, spent some time in Donna Thompson's backyard. The Thompson's live near the intersection of Skeeter Pond Road and Creek Road, about three miles west of Grifton.
Thompson was able to snap a few pictures of their visitor, of course from a distance. Her husband last saw him cross the road and head toward Skeeter Pond Road around noon.
The black bear didn't have anything for lunch (that we know of).
