Police say that a man that was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center after being shot in the head, has been released from the hospital.
Officers say 26-year-old Elijahuan Harper was airlifted from Lenoir Memorial Hospital to Vidant Medical Center out of an abundance of caution.
Harper told officers he was approached by three men while outside of 103 South Rochelle Boulevard. The victim said he was forced inside the home and the men were "demanding stuff".
Harper said one of his attackers had a gun and he was shot in the back of the head.
So far police have not made any arrests in the case.
Kinston Police say they are investigating a possible shooting that resulted in a man being airlifted to an area hospital.
Kinston Police on scene say that they responded to a report of a person shot at 103 Rochelle Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. Sunday. Once there, officers say they located 26-year-old Elijahuan Harper at a nearby home suffering from trauma to the head.
According to investigators, Harper was able to tell them that he was approached by 3 black males who had driven up in a white 4 door car. Officers say that Harper told them that he was forced into his relative’s home at 103 Rochelle Boulevard where the men ransacked the house.
At some point, officers say that Harper told them the men attacked him and that it's possible he was shot.
Officials say Harper was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where he was then flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Police say the suspects are still on the loose.
Officers are still on scene investigating.
