A medical examiner says they can't say for sure how a Kinston mother was murdered last summer.
An autopsy for Laura Ackerson was released today. It lists the cause of death as undetermined homicidal violence.
The woman's body was found last July in a Texas creek. The father of her child, Grant Hayes of Raleigh and his wife have both been charged with the woman's murder.
Authorities believe Ackerson was murdered in Raleigh and her body cut up and placed in coolers for the trip to Texas.
The autopsy says there was an injury on the woman's neck and another injury that appeared someone tried to strangle Ackerson. The report also says there were eight cut sites found and that a saw was used to dismember the woman's body.
Court records show Ackerson and Hayes were in the middle of a contentious child custody battle.
