The National Weather Service has a handful of storm damage reports from the thunderstorms that moved through the southern counties of Eastern Carolina Wednesday Night.
A house fire in Oriental is blamed on a lightning strike in a waterfront community. It was a model home, so no one lived there. You can read more about the fire here.
A tree was struck by lightning in the Onslow County town of Richlands. That happened on Kinston Highway at 9:11 p.m.
A blocked part of Highway 11 south of Pink Hill in Lenoir County. Law enforcement reported that to NWS at 8:55 p.m.
Trees were reported down in Calypso in Duplin County at 6:48 p.m. The report blames the damage on the wind.
