A former christian school principal has avoided trial by taking a plea deal in Lenoir County.
Michael Fulcher pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to misdemeanor assault on a female. He was given a 60 day suspended sentence, and 12 months of probation. During that probation he can't seek any job in education.
Fulcher does not have to register as a sex offender.
Fulcher was principal of Kinston's Bethel Christian Academy when allegations arose that he had sexual relations with an 18-year-old student.
He resigned shortly after the incident. A jury had been selected to hear the case, but no evidence had been presented yet by prosecutors.
