Trio Charged With Trafficking Oxycodone

Police say they've arrested three people for trafficking oxycodone.

Kinston police say John James, Shanaya Smith and Lisa Bland, all of Burgaw, were arrested Thursday. Narcotics investigators and members of the Special Response Unit stopped their vehicle on U.S. 70 and Hillfarm Road.

All three had bonds set at $100,000.

Oxycodone is the generic equivalent to Oxycontin which for people who need it is one of the best meds ever made. It IS very addictive if you are taking it for the wrong reasons but for people like myself who have been broken up and surgically reconstructed several times it is alot better than say Percocet due to its lack of the APAP and other fillers that only due damage to your liver and intestinal tract over long periods of time. Contrary to popular belief (Mary & teresa) not all powerful drugs are bad and not all people who take them are dope heads(addicts). Some people actually need them. I cannot walk without them myself. people like you should live a day in my shoes. Then maybe you people would open your eyes!!!!!!

Do you know any one taking prescription drugs prescribed by a doctor for more than 6 yrs? Are you saying they are they addicted? I stated that I was in control, not taking them every day, do others do that or take them daily? I read your statement that they are addicts.

Teresa is right - it is a very addictive opium based drug - like heroin or morphine. Taking this drug for six years sounds like an addictive habit to me.

I am a oxycodone user (prescribed by doctor) for almost 6 yrs I am not addicted...... sometimes months with a bottle full and never use it. Addiction is people who need a crutch.I also was a heavy smoker for 16 yrs.and haven't touched one since 1988,also tried the other so called "addictive" drugs as a young adult. That was a long time ago!!

Oxycodone is a widely prescribed pain killer, but it is very much enjoyed by the same folks who cater towards methamphetamine, methadone, morphine, and illegal drugs. It is often prescribed in the E.R.'s for alledged migraines and back pain. Thank the drug companies for this one.
