Body Of Missing Rafter Found

Authorities say around 8PM Thursday the body of 20-year-old Marcus Dove was recovered.

Divers and sonar were used to find Dove.

Previous Story:

Rescue crews in Lenoir County have spent the second day searching for a missing rafter.

The man, who is his late teens to early 20's, disappeared Wednesday afternoon in Fountain Hill Lake. The lake is in a subdivision off Skeeter Pond Road, west of Grifton.

Authorities say the young man went to go visit two friends who were fishing on the lake around 3:00 p.m. They say when the storm rolled through the young man went into the water and he tried to swim to a raft, but never made it back to land.

Major Chris Hill says they have notified the man's family, but are not releasing his name until the body is recovered.

Thursday the Sidney Dive Team, and a Highway Patrol helicopter helped with the search. Authorities say they plan to continue the search into Thursday night.

Fountain Hill Lake is about 50 acres in size, and reportedly is 30 feet deep in some spots.

D was a great guy. I remember the first time I met him... He was always very courteous, a sure person to bug out with. It saddens me that this isn't a full story. Had it been someone else with a different race it would've been the top story. I do hope that his family will be able to cope and understand that God has a plan for everything and that all things happen for a reason. Though we may not understand it, we are to trust God through all the hurt and the pain. I couldn't imagine the heart break for his family, but I do know that God is going to comfort them in their time of need. May God bless his friends also... D will most definitely be missed.

I only knew Dante through the family of his dear friend Phillip Jones (and fiancee, Emily), but he made a huge deposit in their hearts and mine by association. I pray that God ministers healing and rejoice that Dante celebrates now in heaven. God bless you and I offer every compassion.

My nephew lives right in front of this lake. He is 16 and told me a few weeks back that he had almost drowned one day in this lake also. Maybe there should be a NO SWIMMING regulation here. I had no idea it was 30' deep. I am praying for the family.
