Law enforcement officers from across the state were in Kinston Tuesday to honor their own during the North Carolina Peace Officer's Memorial ceremony.
Officers showed up to remember six of their peers who were killed last year in the line of duty. A seventh officer died last year from complications due to injuries suffered in a 2008 accident.
Three of the officers honored served in Eastern Carolina: Lenoir County detective Allen Pearson, Martin County deputy Charlie Brown, and Nags Head sergeant Earl Murray.
Both the Pearson's and Brown's families attended the service.
Martin County Sheriff Dan Gibbs says his department is healing more everyday, but that no one can replace deputy Brown.
