A rash of vacant house fires in the east is still under investigation, as one city looks into the possibility of an arsonist at-large.
The latest fire happened Thursday night on Hicks Avenue in Kinston, although authorities have not ruled that case as arson.
If all cases are ruled arson -- that would make -- eight-- random house fires within the city since January. The last fires until now, happened in April on North East Street and Washington Avenue and Tobacco and Holley Lanes from April, where fire investigators say two vacant structures were intentionally set.
