Update: Driver Charged in Accident

Troopers say they have charged Jerry McNair of Kinston with hit and run and two counts of reckless driving.

They say McNair is at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Troopers say the accident is still under investigation.

Authorities say Jerry McNair of Kinston had hit a car and was weaving in and out of traffic before the crash.

Police say McNair's car knocked down several power lines before hitting a ditch and then landed straight up against the house.

McNair was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital according to authorities. No word on his condition right now.

Previous Story:

A traffic accident had shut down all four lanes of Highway 11 in Lenoir County. They have since been reopened.

We're told the accident happened around 5:15 p.m. near the DuPont Plant, that's between Kinston and Grifton.

Pictures from the scene show a vehicle standing straight up against a home. No one was inside the home at the time.

A person was trapped in the vehicle, but they have been freed. An EastCare helicopter is also at the scene.

    Is the person diabetic or drunk? Anyone know? Sometimes diabetics sugars gets messed up and this can happen.

    I was there, the only person affected was the driver. He scraped the back of a van, but the family inside the van was not hurt.

    omg, we were so afraid that my sister and her 2 kids were hurt , but thank god that they were safe. the person driving the vehicle was family to a well known teacher at contentnea-savannah school in kinston,nc ,our prayers are with ms.grady and her family at this time and we hope that he pulls through alright. just to let everyone know my sister and her 2 boys 9 and 2 yrs old are fine ,shaken-up alittle but fine. but the accident was terrible and frightening for everyone . thank god that my sister and her 2 kids weren't hurt at all. ms.grady and her family are in our prayers tonight.

    This wreck occured at the Grainger Station Rd. exit from northbound Hwy 11, about 2 miles south of Dupont. Many rescue vehicles responded. Hope that all involved were safe.
