We've seen it happen in schools all across the country, and Thursday it happened in eastern Carolina...an intruder with a gun. Thankfully it was just a drill.
Kinston police pretended as if an intruder had gotten into the Rochelle Middle School cafeteria. The scenario involved a school resource officer being shot at by a man in a long black coat. Swat teams arrived to head into the building and get the intruder out, all the while staying safe.
Fake victims were carried to ambulances as paramedics were also involved in the drill.
First responders have received extensive training and will take what they learned and analyze it for future training.
