Edgecombe County Names Interim Superintendent

Edgecombe County has an interim school superintendent who is no stranger to the area.

Steve Mazingo was named interim superintendent Monday night by the school board. He will replace Dr. Craig Witherspoon who will leave next month for a new job leading the Birmingham City Schools in Alabama.

Mazingo retired in 2008 as superintendent of Greene County Schools, and had been headmaster of Arendell Parrot Academy in Kinston until his resignation in November.

From what I understand, they had a residing board member that was going to fill in as interim superintendent with NO PAY, but the "others" said NO, let's go PAY somebody to do this job, while we spend more taxpayer's money.

Not sure why he left Parrott but Steve is a good person and Edgecombe is lucky to have him.
