Input Needed On Possible U.S. 70 Bypass

If you've had enough traffic headaches while traveling on U.S. 70 in Lenoir, Jones and Craven counties, now is your chance to do something about it.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation wants your input as it holds two workshops this month to look at improving traffic flow along that corridor.

The changes could include a new highway, bypasses, or upgrading the existing highway.

The workshops will be held February 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Kinston High School cafeteria, and February 25th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the public services complex in Kinston.

Well, it's really a drag to have to slow down to 20 to drive through downtown Kinston, when you know you definitely aren't going to stop. Also, don't 258 and 70 already have 'bypasses' of Kinston? So what, now they want to bypass the bypass? They need a east side bypass for highway 11.

I have a question. one the city of kinston is desperately trying to get the tourist trade to stop and see kinston but kinston is dying and now the state wants to bring up this bypass junk again to totally cut jugular vein of kinston. they built a bypass around raleigh and enough said about stupid beauracratic stupidity just to spend money

Why build a new bypass and then put a stop light at every crossroad, or keep the speed limit at 55. DOT needs to look at the speed limit on about 6 miles of the 55 zone.
