The case of a Wayne County teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been continued until April.
Thirty-three year-old Shannon Herring of Kinston was an exceptional children's teacher at Southern Wayne High School.
She faces two counts of sexual activity with a student, based on accusations of crimes committed with a 17-year-old boy on at least two occasions.
Authorities say the encounters happened off campus in October & November of 2008.
The school system says Herring was hired in August 2007 and was placed on administrative leave the day before the school went to authorities with the allegations.
Herring's new court date is April 29th.
