POSTAL SERVICE: Clear Ice, Snow From Mailboxes

The Postal Service reminds customers to make sure their mailman can get to their mailbox because of the snow.

Mailboxes should be free of snow and ice, and the Postal Service says you should also clear your mailbox area of snow, sleet, slush, ice and debris.

Letter carriers are told not to deliver to mailboxes and locations they consider having access too difficult or unsafe.

I know how it is to try to deliever mail in the snow. It stinks, it is scary and no fun. Exspecially on the cold days where the wind is blowing hard. I thank all the postal carriers for all their hard work.

Being a mail carrier is an awesome job! (On any day other than a snow day) I was by no means complaning. I simply said ppl need to put themselves in other peoples shoes before complaning about the work they do...

If you don't want to be a mail carrier, find another job. I get sooo tired of people complaining about their jobs. If I hated my job so bad I would find another.

Its 6:30 on a snowy icy Saturday morning and still dark..You're snoozing in bed or having coffee watching the snow fall. However your mail carrier is pilling on layers of clothes trudging through snow and driving on hazardous roads to get to work. Then spending long hours in freezing conditions just so YOU can get mail..Before you start ranting and raving put yourself in their shoes..Or if you think you can do it better alot of local Post Offices have opening for RCA's..

T, that's because your quality of mail carrier has gone down, along with the rest of America's workforce. Its because of all the inferior quality employees that must be hired to meet the "quota" if you know what I mean.

Or how about teaching your mail carriers to not destroy the mail box I paid for... I had a mail carrier put the mail in obviously forgot to close the lid then drove away hitting it causing it to break off didn't even bother to tell me and it was raining that day so all my mail got soaking wet from there not being any lid since she ruined it so I had to go get another mailbox cause there was no fix to the one she broke.

That's just so wrong for the Postal Service telling the public to clear their mailboxes so they can get to them, when u go to the post office in Robersonville and the whole parking lot is a sheet of ice with no salt or anything put on it to help melt it quicker. If they want the public to help them out , they need to help the public out....
