I am assistant chief of a department in Edgecombe Co. and unfortunately with the high cost of equipment and operating cost, fund raisers are not enough to run a well equipped fire dept.We have the lowest tax rate district in my county and we depend on grant money to buy the equipment necessary to service our community

I see the VFD that covers my area is not listed, must be because when money is need of equipment etc., we raise the money (Bar-B-Que, or what ever) and are self supporting community.

The most dedicated group of people you will ever meet. I volunteered for 25 years and know the time and dedication required to keep up the training. About the only place I agree with government spending.

Probably the old chief as this is a very lengthy process. Not familiar with Belhaven FD, just the process.

Question...who applied for Belhaved, Jimmy Davis or the old Chief that the Mayor ran off?
