Animal Abuse Cases Continued Until Summer

A Greene County man who is facing 79 animal cruelty charges will have to wait until this summer for a court date.

James Webb was arrested earlier this month after authorities say they found dozens of animals on his land near Walstonsburg. His case was recently continued until July 30th.

Officials said the conditions they were living in were horrible-- and almost all were found with a medical issue.

The animals that were still alive-- pigs, goats, chickens, geese, turkeys, and horses-- were first taken to the Wilson County Fairgrounds to an emergency shelter where they received care.

Since then all of the animals have gone to three farms in other counties.

How dare you call me stupid. How would you like for someone to strap something around your body and tighten it up so it would hold somebody for you to carry. Oh and what about putting steel things in the mouths and pulling them around.you should try having someone pull you around by the head or by a piece of steel in your mouth. It is cruel and useless today .Some people carry whips and pop them to make them move. What is stupid is people using these dumb animals for pure recrational plesure.GOD did not make these or any animal to be beaten and driven with things that are not natural. There should be laws to stop people from selling horses to be abused.we are supposed to be civilized.you tell me JOY what is stupid about my comments.Do you "ride" horses with things in the mouth.I know it hurts them.

First to animal lover --STUPID!!! Next, the animals were released to three area farms of the owner's choosing. So let me tell you who is footing the bill -- HE IS! To Anonymous--The charges were misdemeanors because he did none of the things in Article 47. All of you are posting comments without knowing the facts--your comments are no better than those of WITN.

Why are these animals not treated in the same manner as dogs and cats ?why are private individuals called in ?Why are not these animals adopted through our county the same as felines and canines?

The news story say that the "animas that were still alive were taken"...that statement seems to instill the thinking that most were dead or near death? WHER IS THE GREY HORSE THAT FIRST APPEAR on the other article? The picture of the emaciated one that did not belong to the owner. Somebody sure is plugging this story? Make me wonder! To much sensationalism to convict the owner. This story is misleading...

Anonymous on Jan 19, 2010 at 12:02 PM ..yeah they should give him the death penalty and all those of people, like the ones that ride horses. It is so disgusting seeing my nieghbors riding around on those poor animals. Why in the world does anyone use these poor animals like this anymore. It is cruel and malicious behavior to make animals beast of burdens for someone's pleasure. You can tell the horses do not like people on them. There should be laws to stop this kind of torture in our society today. It is ungodly and cruel.I feel so sorry when I see people on these animals backs. It's horrifying, just awful.

Greg any normal person would know that the person that owns the farm that took these animals in is footing the bill! If you and other taxpayers are paying for my farm I am sure missing something come tax time...

Anonymous, I agree with you. I think saving the animals is more important than where the money comes from.
