With holiday shopping now underway one store in Lenoir County is ready for a boom in business but is also prepared for what comes with that boom.
The president of Neuse Sport Shop, Russell Rhodes says an increase in sales means an increase in shoplifting.
But this year, the store's prepared for those who aren't paying up.
Three years ago Neuse started keeping records on their store thieves.
Rhodes says, 75 percent of the thieves caught were coming from one Lenoir County High School, but he wouldn't disclose which one.
Since then, the store's gone to great measures to cut down on shoplifting. Like working with that school's principal.
Plus, camera's have been installed and ink tags are now used which ruin the product if they aren't taken off properly.
But Rhodes says most thieves are caught by off duty Lenoir County Deputies working undercover.
Rhodes says last week 4 people were arrested at the store for shoplifting. About 40 to 50 are taken into custody each year.
