Former Student Arrested After Threats Made At Community College

A former student is under arrest after police say the threatened to kill people on a community college campus.

Kinston police have charged Charles Ray Skinner with felony false report of mass violence at an educational facility.

Police say around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday they responded to reports of threats made at the campus of Lenoir Community College.

The 19-year-old Skinner was arrested at his Sloan Street home where police found one shotgun that belonged to his mother. He's in the Lenoir County jail under a $100,000 bond.

The college says Skinner was a former student in the adult high school program.

A check of the North Carolina Department of Corrections website shows 19-year-old Charles Ray Skinner was convicted in October 2008 of misdemeanor assault.

this man is one of my best friends. yeah he might be a nice person, but i can tell you, it doesnt matter how nice you are. he was constantly being picked on. i was in the car with him when a group of dudes decided to catch the car on fire because they dont like him. he does need jail time. what he did was not right. he does need counceling. but i still love this man to death. he needs to straighten up his life some. restart his life somewhere new where nobody knows him. that almost always works in situations like his. ~MMMFWACL~

once i had to report a kid on the last day of school for saying he was going to bomb the place up. i doubt he had the means. but after hearing those words, i am accountable. so i understand why this was reported, and i hope all measures are taken to ensure peoples safety as well as to find out what this guys intentions are. you might think hes sweet--but you never know what a person is going to do until after you happen to see it on a 'newsbreak'. i feel sorry for anyone who gets bullied, but even sorrier for innocent people who lose their lives or loved ones because someone snapped from being bullied.

I THINK THIS SITUATION IS SO SAD. I MEAN IT IS TOO MUCH YOUNG VIOLENCE GOING ON AND TOO MANY INNOCENTS LIVES BEING TAKEN AWAY. THIS YOUNG MAN SHOULD BE ASHAME OF HIS SELF. HE NEEDS SOME JAIL TIME AND SOME COUNSELING. ITS SAD THAT YOU CAN NOT EVEN GOOD TO SCHOOL OR WORK WITHOUT SOMEONE THREATENING YOUR LIFE.

Its always if he carried out the threats and how crazy he was, but the fact is he is the true victim, and now pays for the crimes that the instructors never truly cared about him to show support towards him, and no one ever cared.

This is a kid who didnot have any weapons of any kind on him. He has been raised in a good family. He is not able to do this. I agree with Precious, why not spotlight the gangs in Kinston instead of something stupid that we use to use in the old days. How many times has somebody said they were going to kill you, you are still alive right! This is just blown out of contents. Ask people who realy know him!!

I work at LCC and I think this kid just said the wrong thing. I feel that the spotlight needs to be placed on the gang activity on campus before there is a really bad incident on campus.
